Audi A3

The Audi A3 is a small family car produced by the German automaker Audi since 1996. The first two generations of A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, which they share with several other models such as the Audi TT, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Caddy and Volkswagen Touran as well as SEAT Leon, SEAT Toledo and Skoda Octavia. The third-generation A3 uses the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.
As the interior look is concerned Audi A3 has a pure sporty and high class material inside, beam of the car is stripped with the logo “TDI Power” that fascinates anyone towards it, its cockpit is with various highlights, seats adjust automatically, door panels and floor mat are in all new design that adds overall comfort and impression to the exclusive Audi A3, the air vents are positioned at multiple places in a jet design to promote comfort and looks, the rear seats are made of foam which makes it much spacious, individual and luxurious, open selector gates in aluminium are really dynamic in looks in order to  give it a feel of complete sports car. Audi A3 has an elegant steering wheel along with the flat bottom, central console is designed with leather trimmed struts and stylish buttons over to give it sporty glance inside. To manage the navigation and entertainment a monitor has been attached on the above and control panel is kept similar to company's ex-launched Audi R8 super car.  Door handles of the Audi A3 are very less in weight as these are made concave that increases the smoothness and comfort while holding.
At the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, Audi launched the second-generation of the A3, the Typ 8P, designed by Gary Telaak in 2000(final design frozen in 2001). Originally launched only as a three-door hatchback with four-cylinder engines, it featured a new automobile platform (the PQ35 platform), a redesigned and more spacious interior, new petrol engines with Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), and standard six-speed manual gearboxes (except on the base 1.6).
In mid 2003, the line was updated with two sports-oriented models, a 2.0 Turbo-FSI version rated 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp), and a 3.2 L VR6 engine (for the first time) with 250 PS (184 kW; 247 hp). Haldex Traction-based quattro on-demand four-wheel drive, and the S-Tronic semi-auto gearbox were introduced as options (quattro is standard on the VR6) on every model with engine over 140 PS (103 kW; 138 hp).
In 2005, the "S line" trim level, offering new decorative elements, became available and the three-door A3 received the same front end styling features as the Spor tback model. For the first time, the A3 became available in the North American market, exclusively with the Sport back body, with the base 2.0 inline-four TFSI introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model, and the 3.2 VR6 quattro following in 2006.
The third generation A3 was launched in three-door hatchback form at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and went on sale in Europe in September 2012.
Based on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform, the third generation will later become available as a five-door "Sport back" and convertible. For the interim, the convertible and five-door body styles will continue on the previous Typ 8P chassis until 2013. It is at this time when for the first time, an A3 four-door sedan version will be offered—thus effectively filling in the gap left by the A4 which has become larger with each generation.
Front suspension is by MacPherson strut and there is multi-link rear suspension.
At launch, there were two petrol engine options (a 1.4 TFSI with 120 bhp and a 1.8 TSI with 178 bhp) and a 2.0 TDI diesel with 150 bhp. A 1.6 TDI engine with CO2 emissions of 99g/km and a 1.2 TFSI petrol engine are also expected later in 2012.
New features included in the new A3 include a new entertainment system with handwriting recognition and adaptive cruise control.
