The Force One is a SUV manufactured by Force Motors, the maker of Traveler minibuses and the Trax utility vehicles in India. The company is entering the SUV segment for the first time. The company expects that it will offer competition to Mahindra Scorpio and other strong brands in its range. There is a controversy that the parts of this car are imported from a Chinese company.

Force Motors, is the Pune based pioneer of the LCV Industry that gave India iconic brands like the Tempo, Matador, Minidor and Traveler  Over the last five decades it has partnered with leading global automotive names like Daimler, ZF, Bosch and MAN and through these associations developed comprehensive expertise in-house - for design, development and production of the entire range of automobiles.

Force Motors is completely vertically integrated, making its own engines, chassis, gear boxes, axles, bodies, etc. for their entire product range. In 1958, the company started production of the HANSEAT 3-Wheeler's in collaboration with Vidal & Sohn Tempo Werke Germany. Today, they manufacture a wide range of vehicles including Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV), Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), Multi Utility Vehicles (MUV), Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV), Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV) and Agricultural Tractors.

In a move away from its long-established business, of being a Commercial Vehicle Maker, Force Motors has chosen to enter the Personal Vehicles arena with a Sports Utility Vehicle the FORCE ONE. To be followed by a range of SUVs and MPVs(High end people movers).

The company was promoted by Late Shri N K Firodia. He gave the country two paradigms – the concept of the Autorickshaw – as a low cost public transport. He coined the word “Auto rickshaw”. Later the Tempo Matador was the first diesel light commercial vehicle in India. The word Tempo (a registered trade mark of Daimler) is seen today to be commonly used for any small goods carrier in India. The other group companies are MAN FORCE TRUCKS Pvt. Ltd. and Jaya Hind Industries Ltd.

In 1987, the company set up a new plant at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh, for the production of Tempo Traveler  This plant was designed and built to the specification of Daimler-Benz.

In 1999, fully aware of the strength of Force Motors, in terms of engineering infrastructure and capabilities Daimler asked it to set up a dedicated facility for assembling and testing engines for Mercedes passenger cars to be made in India. Till date Force Motors have supplied all the engines for Mercedes Cars made in India. This business has grown to a substantial size as axles (both front and rear) of the C and E class passenger cars have also been added in the last two years to the portfolio.

In the year 2003, Force Motors signed technology sourcing agreements with MAN for which payments were made upfront. After creation of a full range of Tippers & Tractors and the setting up of a modern plant to manufacture the Heavy Vehicles, at the request from MAN, a joint venture was created forming MAN FORCE TRUCKS Pvt. Ltd. as MAN offered to export large quantities of the vehicles.

Force Motors supplies to MAN FORCE TRUCKS Pvt. Ltd., the JV company, the large 1300 Nm and 850 Nm gear boxes, made under a technology license from ZF Germany, as also the complete cabin, for the trucks sold in India and exported under the MAN brand.

In July 2011 Force Motors signed a license agreement with Daimler AG for a comprehensive supply of product technology for a premium Multi Purpose Vehicle. This is in addition to the on-going arrangement with MB.Tech Power train GmbH for sourcing technical assistance for engine installation, vehicle build quality, electronic refinement etc.

The word ‘Force’ is not just the product of ‘mass’ and ‘acceleration’. It reflects values of ethical business, strength in technology, in manufacturing, and energy in product development.
