Skoda Octavia 2013

ABOUT:

The Skoda Octavia is a small family car (C-segment in Europe) produced by Czech automaker Skoda Auto since 1996. Its name is revived from a model originally produced between 1959 and 1971. The current Octavia is available in five-door lift back and station wagon models.
The car is based on a Volkswagen Group platform shared with the Volkswagen Jetta. There have been two generations of the Octavia model to date. A high performance version, the RS or vRS is also available.
Octavia is marketed as the Laura to distinguish it from the first generation. The car is marketed in a higher segment, and was sold alongside the previous generation Octavia. However the first generation ended production in India in 2010, and as of 2012 the Laura's price has been reduced and is now competing in its predecessor's segment.
There are two four-wheel-drive versions of the Octavia: the 4x4 and the Scout, both featuring a Haldex Traction four-wheel-drive system, based on a computer-controlled clutch center coupling. The two models both have higher ground clearance than the standard Octavia, increased by 24 mm (0.9 in) for the 4x4 and by 40 mm (1.6 in) for the Scout. The Scout, announced in 2006, is only available with the estate body style, and has several crossover style exterior modifications, such as larger bumpers.
In August 2011, a special Skoda Octavia vRS hit the world record on the American Bonneville Speedway and became the fastest car in world with an up to 2-liter engine, when it hit 365.43 km/h (227 mph).
Octavia was revealed on 11 December 2012, at the Skoda museum in Mlada Boleslav.
The new model will be 9 cm (4 in) longer and 4.5 cm (2 in) wider than the second generation and the wheelbase will be extended by 10.8 cm (4.3 in). It is also up to 102 kilograms lighter than the previous model. At the interior, an 8-inch touch-screen display, also used in the Volkswagen Golf, will be available, as well as an electric panoramic roof. The luggage compartment will have a volume of 590 liters (21 cu ft).
It will feature new safety equipment such as forward collision warning, driver fatigue detection system, driver knee airbag, rear side airbags and active bonnet. Other assistance systems that will be available are lane-keeping assistant, adaptive cruise control, parking assistant or traffic sign recognition system.
Engines will be in the range of 86–179 PS (63–132 kW), and a Green Line version, that will be producing only 89 grams of CO2 per km, will also be offered. All-wheel drive transmission will be added a later point for the RS and Combi versions.
Previously, photos of the car covered in light camouflage were released to the media in late October 2012, after other pre-production cars had already been spotted on several occasions during the same month.

Zenvo ST1 2013

 ABOUT:

Zenvo Automotive was founded in 2004. The prototype was completed in December 2008 and after the final phase of testing, production began in 2009. The designation of the car is Zenvo ST1 to approved customers.
Zenvo or Zenvo Automotive is a Danish sports car company located in Praesto on the Danish island of Zealand. It is managed by Jesper Jensen, the founder and financier, and Troels Vollertsen. The name 'Zenvo' is derived from a combination of their names.
The Zenvo is entirely a result of Danish design. The carbon fiber body is made in Germany and many components such as gauges, gas tank, ABS brakes, traction control, and airbags come from US or German cars. The car's aggressive lines were designed by Christian Brandt and Jesper Hermann who own the car design consultancy Hermann Brandt Hartvig. Brandt, who was head of design on the project, has also worked for Alfa Romeo and Kleemann, an after-market tuning company for customising Mercedes-Benz cars located in Farum, Denmark.
The Zenvo ST-1 is now being sold in the United States with production being limited to only 3 cars per year. Distribution is being handled by a California based company by the name of Red Sea Distribution. Cost of the U.S. based model is estimated at 1.8 million USD, which includes a free watch valued at $50,000.
The Zenvo is a high performance sports car. While power is available through its supercharger and turbo, it will still be driveable for everyday use. Its 7-liter V8 engine will be set to generate 1,250 hp (932 kW) in the USA and achieve 1,104 hp (823 kW) elsewhere at 6,900 rpm and 1,430 N·m (1,050 lb·ft) of torque at 4,500 rpm. Indeed, according to The Motor Report, recent tests returned a 0–100 km/h time of 3.0 seconds, while 0–200 km/h took only 8.9 seconds, and a top speed of 375 km/h (233 mph)
Despite its power and large alloy wheels, the car is small, at just 15.3 ft (4.7 m) long, 6.7 ft (2.0 m) wide, and 3.9 ft (1.2 m) tall. It weighs just over 3,020 lb (1,370 kg) thanks to carbon fiber body panels.
Zenvo offers keyless entry, satellite navigation, power telescoping steering wheel, and leather electrically adjustable racing seats.

Proton Gen-2 2013

 ABOUT:

The Proton Gen-2 is an automobile manufactured by Malaysian car maker Proton, and was launched in the third quarter of 2004. The Gen-2 uses a platform which has been extensively developed in-house by Proton and their partner Lotus. Initially code named the Proton Wira Replacement Model, it was hinted that the car was to replace the Proton Wira. The name Gen-2 is an abbreviation of Generation 2, to symbolized the second generation of the very successful Wira as the first generation. The Gen-2 was among the first cars to be produced in Proton's Tanjung Malim plant, developed as part of its Proton City development project.
The Gen-2's platform is also used by the Proton Satria Neo (with a shortened wheelbase) and the Proton Persona (with an extended rear hang to form a more sedan-like body).
Proton owns Lotus Cars that was involved in the development of the car. The Gen-2 is the first Proton model to use the new Proton/Lotus developed Cam pro engine. Although the Gen-2's S4PH 1.6-liter engine delivers a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 11.2 seconds (manual transmission) and a contemporary maximum power output of 110 PS (81 kW; 108 hp) at 6000 rpm, it suffers from poor mid-range torque.
This is due to a torque dip in the crucial 2,000 - 3,000 rpm operating range, where the torque output decreases slightly before picking up back to its peak torque, which is delivered at 4,000 rpm. This torque characteristic can clearly be seen in manufacturer published engine performance curves and is widely attributed to the missing Camshaft Profiling System (CPS) technical feature that the engine was named after, but which did not make production, to save costs.
The original (non-CPS) Gen-2's ECU's Engine and Automatic Transmission mapping has been modified several times since the car's launch to improve perceived mid-range pick-up, but the upgrades did not markedly improve the cars' drive ability.
This undesirable torque dip was eventually corrected by Proton in 2008 with the introduction of the "new" Cam Pro engine, designated Cam Pro CPS, which finally delivered camshaft profiling (variable valve timing) as part of the engine specification.

STYLING:
The Gen-2 was styled by Proton's Australian-educated chief stylist Damian Chia. He drew inspiration from the traditional Malay kite known as wau bulan locally, and the handle of the Malay dagger, the kris, in shaping the unique grille of the Gen-2. Chia also gave the new car what he describes as "tiger-like eyes" to give the front a more forceful appearance.
The original Gen-2's interior has been singled out for particularly low quality of materials used The cabin layout has however received some praise for its unusual instrument and climate control design, and materials were upgraded somewhat for the 2007 facelift.

Toyota Vios 2013

 ABOUT:

The Toyota Vios is a four-door subcompact sedan developed for the South East Asia, China, and Taiwan markets.
Introduced in 2002, the Vios serves as a replacement of the Toyota Tercel (called the Toyota Soluna in Thailand and Indonesia), which filled the Asian subcompact market for a 1.5 liter  below the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry, both of which are also marketed in the region. The Vios is marketed alongside the Toyota Yaris in most countries in South East Asia, which offered another option for a hatchback, when it officially entered the region's market in 2005. In the United States, the second generation Vios is known as the Toyota Yaris sedan.
The new Vios is essentially a re-badged Toyota Belta sedan, which launched in November 2005. The model code for cars with 1.5 liter 1NZ-FE engines is NCP93. The engine is only available where the Vios is marketed, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Thailand. As was the first generation Vios, the second generation Vios is assembled at Thailand's Toyota Gateway Plant and also at the Philippines Santa Rosa, Laguna Plant. In the Americas it is marketed as the Yaris Sedan, replacing the Echo sedan, with production sourced from Japan.
In terms of reliability, there is one proof that the Vios is as reliable as death and taxes. It's a good thing indeed, but image-wise, it just kills the Vios. The Vios is a favorite of taxi fleets. Taxi fleets want something very tough, very simple, easy to maintain, sips fuel like a miser, and has very affordable parts that are readily available. Driving the Vios is okay--nothing really special--but there's also a sense of indestructibility about it. Resilience is a better word to describe the feeling of safety that the Vios offers. Whereas the City feels like a solid structure hewn from a single block of metal, the Vios feels like an organic, shape-changing and adapting material that wraps around you. It feels rubbery, less sharp, less precise to drive, especially when you're on the move. But traffic driving is a strong suit of the Vios because it's engine is very responsive low-down, whereas the City's engine tends to pull all the way to red line better with a slight loss in low-end grunt as a compromise.
There’s also a new 15-inch 12-spoke design alloy wheel wrapped by 185/60 series tyres. The wheel gets slapped on the 1.5E and 1.5J, and replaces the 14-inches from before. The change is significant for the 1.5J, as it previously had steel wheels with a cover.
Inside, the only change is with new seat material, complete with fresh fabric pattern. As for safety, the front passenger now gets a SRS airbag, replete with seatbelt pre-tensioner and force-limiter, making it two for the count.
The new Vios was designed for more comfort than handling. Interior is much upgraded with more convenience features, and flat rear floor.

Maruti Jimny

 ABOUT:

The Suzuki Jimny is a line of Off-road vehicles from Suzuki produced since 1968.
The history of Suzuki four-wheel-drive cars dates to 1968. Suzuki bought former Japanese automaker Hope Motor Company which had introduced fifteen small off-road vehicles called the Hope Star ON360. The first Suzuki-branded 4-wheel drive, the LJ10, was introduced in 1970. The LJ10 had a 359 cc air-cooled, two-stroke, in-line two-cylinder engine. The liquid-cooled LJ20 was introduced in 1972 with the cooling changed due to newly enacted emission regulations, and it gained 3 hp. In 1975, Suzuki complemented the LJ20 with the LJ50, which had a larger 539 cc, two-stroke, in-line three-cylinder engine and bigger differentials. This was originally targeted at the Australian market, but more exports soon followed.
The larger 1.3-litre Jimny was originally equipped with the G13BB engine also used in the JB32. The 80 hp G13BB engine was replaced in Japan with the January 2000 introduction of the newly designed VVT 16-valve M-engine, but soldiered on in Spanish-built softtops until 2005. For the diesel loving continental European market, in 2004 the turbodiesel Jimny JB53 was introduced, built by Santana and using a Renault-built DDiS 1,461 cc K9K engine. Power was originally 65 hp but was increased to 86 hp in 2005, the same as in gasoline versions. It remains unavailable in Britain and Ireland.
Jimny features a part time 4WD system. On its dashboard, there are three buttons - 2WD, 4WD and 4WD-L. The 2WD is default when it runs as RWD. When 4WD is pressed, the front wheels are also engaged as drive with high gears. The 4WD-L engages front wheels as well as low ratio gears. Being a part time 4WD, there is no center differential or viscous coupling. The Jimny should not be driven on normal road surface in 4WD mode.
The Jimny features large windows, giving excellent visibility, apart from a rather serious blind spot caused by the oversized "B" pillar. The large amount of glass also creates a greenhouse effect, and the Jimny comes with air conditioning as a standard feature in some regions.
The Jimny is a back to the basics vehicle like the Gypsy and the overall design is kept simple. With its small dimensions and boxy shape the SUV will be very practical for the city and the rural areas. The three doors configuration, short wheelbase and the rectangular headlights make this SUV look robust. At the front is an imposing bumper which is fitted with small air intakes. When Suzuki started to design the Jimny the purpose was to be practical and the SUV’s lines remain true to that objective without any fancy lines or unnecessary details. The rear has two big vertical tail lamps and the spare wheel is located on the tailgate.
In 2009 Santana Motor of Spain stopped the agreement with Suzuki to make the Canvas Top version, which since then is no longer available. In 2011 Santana Motor went bankrupt. The Souza Ramos Group of Brasil, who used to make Mitsubishi cars under license, will start manufacturing the Suzuki Jimny in 2012 in Brasil to compensate the lost of production capacity from Santana Motor. It is not known yet if the Canvas Top version will be manufactured also in Brasil. Since 2009, in some countries like Spain, Suzuki no longer support the cars that were manufactured by Santana Motor, arguing that they are not Suzuki cars but Santana's cars.

Hyundai i10 Next Gen

 ABOUT:

The Hyundai i10 is a city car produced by the South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company. It was launched in October 2007, replacing the Hyundai Atos in some markets.
The i10 is produced in India at Hyundai's Chennai plant for the domestic and export markets. It is positioned near the lower end of Hyundai's hatchback subcompact range (above the Hyundai Eon).
Hyundai started development of the i10 to replace the Hyundai Atos, also known as the Santro. The development for the concept was code-named Hyundai PA. The car was targeted primarily at the Indian market and intended for production in India, given the popularity of hatchback subcompacts in the country.
Hyundai i10 was widely recognized as "Car of the Year 2008" by various automotive magazines and TV channels in India like BS Motoring, CNBC-TV18 AutoCar, NDTV Profit Car & Bike India and Overdrive magazine. The car was conferred with the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) by automotive media of the country.
In Malaysia the Hyundai i10 has also earned recognition through many awards such as the Best People's Car in the Asian Auto – VCA Auto Industry Awards 2009, 1st Place in Asian Auto-Mudah .my Fuel Efficiency Awards 2009 in the Compact City Cars Category with a combined fuel efficiency of 5.0l/100 km, which is not only the best performance in its category but also throughout all the participating vehicles in Malaysia. The Hyundai i10 also won the New Straits Times / May bank Car of the Year Award in the Entry Level Car category two times consecutively in 2009 and 2010.
In 2008, Hyundai commemorated 10 years of operations in India by initiating a transcontinental drive from Delhi to Paris in two of its i10 Kappa cars. The drive covered a distance of 10,000 kilometers (6,200 mi) in just 17 days after which the i10's were showcased at the Paris Motor Show in October. At the Paris Motor Show Hyundai unveiled the Hyundai i20.
The Korean car maker already sells the i10 with a 1.1 liter diesel engine in Europe, a modified version of which may be considered for India. The focus on a second fuel option is because diesel car demand has been on a high in India since 2010, while the petrol car market has contracted.
For Hyundai, petrol car sales have dipped 15 per cent this year. Today, diesel car sales account for 22 per cent of total sales, from 17 per cent last year. In Verna, the diesel variant sales share is 85 per cent, while for i20 its 70 per cent.
A 1.1 liter 3-cylinder diesel CRDi variant is available in Europe but has not yet been introduced into the UK and Indian market.
